The Funnies

Stereo Maddy See

To the left
To the right,
Step it up, step it up
Alllright!!!

The girls worked on their balance training this week in their skiing lessons, which means they needed to hold their arms out a lot and even ski on just one ski.  Things most of us seasoned skiers would really struggle with, yet these little bundles of energy just see it as a game and excel at them with such ease.

The title and lyrics are from the late 90′s hit Step it Up! by Stereo MC on their album Connected.

Ready, Steady, GO!

Hey You! Get Into My Car!

Hey 'Sup? Yeah it's my ride.

Hey 'Sup Dawg? Yeah it's my ride.

We went to a birthday party at a friend’s house this weekend and Les Boys really took to the red Little Tykes car that you have all surely seen in most backyards and day care centres across North America. But Freddy was having so much in the car that I just had to take some pics. Jacques on the other hand just slid right out of it and decided to have no more of it for the rest of day.

There are a few more pics right after this:

Fall Foliage

Considering the last two posts, I just couldn’t resist.

If you haven’t read XKCD before, click on through and enjoy. I can’t promise you won’t be reaching for the High School physics or chemistry books though.

So we’ve been in Sunny Bournemouth for a couple of days now but Les Boys are still not accustomed to GMT. So we were up till about 1 AM Twittering and browsing through the new Facebook Lite. We’ll post some more pictures a little later, the weather is great and I’ve managed to drive the VW around town without any head collisions or turn right into oncoming traffic.

BTW if you want to use Facebook Lite: http://lite.facebook.com and are in the UK or Canada, you going to have to start spelling like a moron and drop your U’s and start using Z everywhere an S sounds hard as in: Colorize instead of the proper Colourise.

Possion d’Avril Papa! – April Fools Day Dad!

Krasse - Poisson d'Avril

Chloé made me breakfast today, she insisted that we get up real early so that I enjoy a healthy well balanced breakfast. Well she got me. I must admit her Photoshop skills are really coming along…

Here is the translation ot the label:

Krasse – Crassy

Moumoutte huileuse – Oily Hair Piece
Beurre de cheveux Gras – Oily hair butter
Peut contenir des pellicules ou des poils de moustache  – May contain dandruff and mustache hairs.

Yup she’s good!

[UPDATE]

She got me again in my lunch.

Magnetic Attractions

Wedding Invite... My cousin, Mr Minolta, is getting married and I think that this may be his wedding invitation, he’s a little fridge magnet crazy. I couldn’t find the RSVP button, so I stuck it on my Internet Fridge in the hopes that it has some kind of RFID tag that phones home on magnetic contact to let him know we are saving the date. I’m also blogging this on my “Funny Website” so that he may pick up our reply in his morning RSS Feed. We’ll probably send a few emails and if all else fails, I’ll Skype my Mom who will call her sister and who will probably see her daughter whom I’m sure will pass on the message to her brother who I know talks on a regular basis with my cousin, Mr Minolta! (Extra points for tracing that arc perfectly in the comments.)

I’m also pretty sure there are about 200 angry and confused off  NEW AMEX and VISA users at his local post office who got there brand new cards de-magnetized.

I Dunno, Whattya Wanna Do?

I Dunno, Whattya wanna do?

Les Boys are a month old today, OK 4 weeks to be precise! And they are having a blast with the rest of the family. But every once in while they just look at each other and appear to be having a conversation. In my mind this is how it goes:

J: I dunno! Whattya want to do?
F: How ’bout we hit up the milk bar again!
J: What? Again! No wonder you’re so big.
F: I’m just big boned!

Maybe it’s just the lack of sleep.

Chloe Turns 8 Steps all over 9

We went rock climbing for Chloe’s eighth birthday party and one of the walls had number holds running up the wall from 0 to 9, once you got to the top you could toot a horn to show everyone you made it.

Montréal’s 15e Mondiale de la Bière: Beer Tastic!

So last night was the opening of Montreal 15th annual beer fest, la Mondiale de la Bière, and I manage to catch the train into town after work to do some serious sampling with a co-worker Nick.

First of all the train ride in is always pretty cool, you hop on and in less than 20 minutes you are smack in the middle on Montreal. The train pulls up right outside the Bell Centre which is literally sitting on top of the Old Windsor Station platforms. The mondial itself was being held inside the station and spilling out into La Place du Centenaire which is where I would stand everyday to board the train home as a school boy. All this to say that is make it the ideal location to taste the worlds finest Ales, Stouts, Porters, Bitters, IPAs and the odd Lager!

So here it the set list for the evening:

1) WIESEN EDEL WEISSE @ 6,2% from Le Petit Pub
2) LOULOU PORTER À L’ÉRABLE @ 8% from Hopfenstark
3) MCAUSLAN SCOTHCH ALE @ 8% from Les Brasseries McAuslan -Thanks Margo! ;)
4) FULLER’S ESB BITTER @ 5,9% from Société Commerciale Clément International
5) DOGFISH HEAD 90 MINUTE IPA @ 9% from Le Petit Pub
6) BORÉALE CUIVRÉE @ 6,9% from Les Brasseries du Nord
7) BIÈRE DU 15E ANNIVERSAIRE DOUBLE TRIPLE @ 10-12% from Les Brasseries Dieu du Ciel
8) STOUT IMPÉRIAL @ 7,5% from la Barberie
9) ROGUE RUSSIAN IMPERIAL STOUT 11,0% from Le Petit Pub
10) I bailed…

No you only get 125ml (4 oz) or so of every beer unless the brew master thinks you are worthy of more or he is finishing off a bottle. But you the beer you are drinking is also a lot stronger, we were trying stuff between 6% and 12% which is fine for taste and the occasional pint. I don’t think I ever drink 90 Minute IPA all night. On the train ride home, I was thinking that if that had been drinking full pints of this stuff on an English Pub Crawl through the Dorset Coastal Paths between Christchurch and Swannage, we would have made it onto the Poole Chain Ferry.

The train ride was a very wise idea and if you decide to make it down to the Beer Fest make sure to get the Souvenir tasting mug!

And Yeah! I did label this as SCIENCE, after all I did take Chemistry of Beer Making in College, pretty much majored in beer tasting in University and did a Masters in Pub Crawl and Real Ales whilst living in England.

New Lodgers on Valois Bay

When we woke up Wednesday day we had some new lodgers at the house. So in looked into it with The Great White North rental board and if we don’t evict them soon, they could claim squatters rights. We had removed another nest only a few days earlier using work gloves but they came back. This time we just used our hands. Our wretched “Human” stench should keep them away this time.

I was really impressed with the quality of work these birds did in a short amount of time.
